QR Code marketing ideas: the 5 best and most successful campaigns.

In marketing and advertising the QR Code is not always efficiently employed. However, the campaigns that we’ll be presenting are a good example of what you can offer to your audience in exchange for a scan!

Emart SunnySale shadow QR Code campaign.

Koreans has got no limits to their fantasy; Emart, in order to increase the sales in the hour of greatest drop, has invented a 3-D QR Code readable only at lunchtime. When the sun casts the QR Code’s shadow it makes it scannable, anyone who scans the QR Code gets immediate discounts to be used for purchases at Emart supermarkets.

Guinness QR Code Cup.

Victoria’s Secret “Sexier than skin”.

The original outdoor campaign for the underwear signed Victoria’s Secret appeals to the public’s curiosity and uses the QR Codes in what was perhaps the most exploited idea (not always cleverly) in advertising: the surprise.

A QR Code is strategically located, covering some parts of the model’s naked body. The QR Code is scanned in the voyeuristic desire to strip the girls, but the sexy surprise leaves us with a smile, impressing in our memory an unforgettable campaign.

Tesco Virtual Store (Home Plus).

What’s more convenient than grocery shopping while waiting for the subway or a plane to go home?

Tesco created virtual displays of products in the major subway stations in Seoul and at London Gatwick Airport. You can buy the products with the smartphone, simply scan the QR Code, or the combined bar codes, and when you’re back at home the fridge is full!

The challenge of Tesco in Korea was to increase sales without opening new stores thus beating the leader Emart. During the campaign, 10,287 people visited the virtual store and sales are up by 130%!

Hidden Sound Campaing.

The Hidden Sound Campaign was created to promote the alternative music of the Zoo Records label in Hong Kong. To spread the music, lots of street art style images depicting a variety of animals were scattered around the city. Each animal was made up of several QR Codes which, when scanned, allowed people to hear the various musical offering of Zoo Records, sharing the experience on social media and buy immediately their favorite tracks.
